What could be the best way for a graduate student to land their first job?
What questions should we ask people? Who should we be looking to meet? I really want to know the best ways of gaining opportunities through people who have been through the system already.

Create a LinkedIn profile and use it to search for your ideal job. You should ask people who have been through the system already that how they feel about their daily work. You should be looking for people who are working in the jobs you are interested in through linkedin.

In my experience, graduate school was a great opportunity for me to network with my teachers, other students, and utilize all of the resources given to me. I would also try and determine what you want to do, and from there, start reaching out to people on LinkedIn, Email, etc., who are in a role that you find interesting. I would reach out and schedule a 10-15 minute phone call with them to get your foot in the door and learn even more about the company and what they do specifically. In my experience, this was super helpful and helped me gain a bigger network, that way I had a few options on where I was going to work.
