Julio’s Answer

Dear Ivan,
First, I would like to congratulate you on your strong professional profile. In my experience in the corporate environment, this combination of skills is both highly valued and increasingly in demand.
I recommend pursuing relevant certifications to further strengthen your candidacy. Even with solid capabilities, a recognized credential—such as a Microsoft Power BI certification—can help you stand out and clearly signal your expertise to recruiters.
In addition, recruiters often prioritize soft skills such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to interpret insights—not only to present numbers. If possible, aim to earn at least one certification in a core system or tool you use regularly in your work.
Finally, be prepared for interview questions that may seem simple but are important—for example, why you are interested in a particular company and what makes you the best candidate for the role. Answer thoughtfully, sincerely, and with specific examples that support your points.
Wishing you continued success in your career journey.

Don't think just about what technical stuff you know how to do, think that there's a lot of people outside who also know how to do that kind of things (like maths, data science, AI), think about you as an individual, what YOU can offer? Your soft skill: are you proactive, communicative, curious, creative...? How this soft skills can relate to a mathematician? Remember that good companies often don't look for someone who knows perfectly how to do the technical work, because most of them will want you to do it in "their own way", they will just need you to understand the "logic" of the data science or of the AI, but they will guide you on how to do it inside the company, think about what you can offer more to them, why you're better than all the other candidates for a job position: you ask questions, you learn, you team-work, etc. etc.? Show how through your experience you had used this soft skill, how you showed to be curious on your last job, for example, describe what (technical) activities you did on your past jobs and look for key words to focus on the soft kills, also make a section to talk about your personal skills "I'm curious, proactive, etc.", what I mentioned earlier. I hope I explain well myself and this helps, when they call you for an interview ask questions that let them see your interest on the job position and also that you always want to learn, and remember that you already have everything needed, you just need to find the right place for you. Best of luck!

It's really impressive that you've got such a strong foundation in mathematics coupled with data science and AI, as those are some of the most sought-after skills in the world right now. To make yourself stand out to recruiters, you should focus on translating those complex mathematical concepts into clear business value, perhaps by building a portfolio on GitHub or a personal blog where you explain the "why" behind your models and the specific problems they solve. Recruiters love seeing that a candidate can not only crunch the numbers but also communicate findings to people who might not have a math background, so highlighting any collaborative projects or presentations you've done will be a huge plus. Make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated with specific keywords related to the tools you use, like Python, PyTorch, or SQL, and don't be afraid to reach out to people currently working in roles you admire for a quick informational interview to get the inside scoop on what their companies value most. You've clearly put in the hard work to master a difficult field, and I'm confident that the right team is going to be thrilled to have your expertise on board. You're doing all the right things to set yourself up for success and good luck.
