What is your biggest piece of advice for moving away from everyone you know when going to college?
I am going to play a sport in college and moving away from home and all of my friends.

I’d say build connections, but the good thing about being on a team is the fact that you’ll have some close connections built in. Have fun, but remember school is your primary job followed by sports and then other. College will go by quickly.

I would say, find a good community that you can join and have a good time with. When my friend left to go to college in Michigan, he didn't really have people that he could talk to over there. But when he joined a group of people who had the same interests as him (in his case, it was theatre) he had a great time when he was there.

Great job on taking this big step! Playing sports in college shows you've got the grit to tackle challenges, and you'll do great with this one too.
It's a good idea to find groups where you feel at home. College can seem huge and a bit scary, but finding your community makes it feel smaller and friendlier.
Your sports team will be your first group since you'll spend a lot of time with them, especially if you're at a D-1 school. Try out a few other activities that interest you, even if they're not sports-related. You don't need to join everything, but pick two or three that you really like.
Remember, there are many others like you trying to find their "bee people" at college. Check out the "No Rain" video by Blind Melon to see what I mean.
Good luck as you start this exciting journey!
