How hard is it juggling a job and being in college ?

TRAVIS’s Answer

Set expectations with your employer and take a minimum number of classes during your first semester so you can adjust. You will likely need to work part time. Stay focused and understand what burnout looks like for you. Dont be afraid to ask for help if you get overwhelmed. Keep your employer and professors looped in so they understand your struggles and can assist. Good luck you will do well.

Diego’s Answer

Hi, I went through a similar situation in college while studying accounting and working part-time.

It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.
First, focus on your physical and mental health. If you don't, you risk burnout, which is tough to deal with. So, always take care of yourself.

Second, spend your money wisely. Use it to improve your skills, whether they're soft skills, technical skills, or even exploring new places.

Third, have clear goals for both work and study. Challenge yourself at your job and in college.

Stay positive, and remember it will pay off someday. Good luck!

Lucy’s Answer

Hi! It’s important to figure out what works best for you. For me personally, I chose to work only Friday through Sunday while taking classes and catching up on schoolwork Monday through Thursday, which is what most people I know did. However, some college students at my job only worked on weekdays during the day, then took night classes, which worked for their major, and used the weekends for free time. It’s important to figure out how to balance school, work, and free time in a way that helps you avoid burnout and understand when you may be approaching that point so you can adjust to a better routine. It may take some trial and error in the beginning, but staying positive will go a long way. Good luck!

Jamie’s Answer

I worked all throughout college usually on campus at 1-2 jobs at a time while maintaining a full college schedule. It is very possible, but it does take time management. Having a job actually helped to keep me organized and on a set schedule, and I really enjoyed working during college. Keep a planner, and always take your school work with you to your job. It may be possible to study or do homework during down times or on breaks if you get them. Having a job helped me meet people, too, and it got me out of my comfort zone. As long as you stay organized and set expectations (like don't schedule yourself to work more than 20-25 hours a week probably), you will do great. I always encourage people to work during college. There are so many benefits, even outside of the paycheck to help cover expenses. Good luck! You'll do great managing both!
