It really varies for each person, and what helps you now might not help later. You'll learn as you go, and that's okay! Be sure to reach out to tutors or use the resources your college or university provides. Everyone is unique, so try different methods until you find what suits you best.

Kudos to you for identifying your concern and reaching out for ideas! What worked for me was (and still is) blocking out a specific time and place every day where I would not be interrupted or distracted. A library is a good option if you do not have a quiet zone in your living quarters. This means silencing your phone as well. After my study goals were accomplished, I would do more relaxing or social things .
Some people do well in study groups and that is another option to consider.
Meditation can help if you have challenges with focus. There are many free resources on line or at schools/libraries for meditation or yoga.
Everybody is different and you may have try different approaches until you find what works for you. I hope you get other ideas from other responders.

What I found helpful for me to retain information as a visual learner is to create my own study guide, which I either print out or save on my digital devices to have for easy access. This would allow for me to review material whenever I am traveling or have time for a quick study session. I have found it beneficial to connect with peers in the same field to form a study group, where we can quiz one another, share helpful advice, and support each other.
I have also found that listening to gamma music—featuring 40 Hz binaural beats—can help support deep focus/concentration, problem-solving, and memory retention. I hope this all helps you in your studies!

You have to find what works for you. I like to handwrite note cards and have strict schedules. It makes me feel like it is manageable. The key is to find what works and hold yourself to it. Talking to other graduated nurses to get their advice is also a good idea. Remember, the solution doesn't have to be bright and shiny. Old school and low tech may work just fine for you.
Good luck to you.
