Finish 12th grade with a good understanding of Math and Science, and make sure you meet the university requirements. Get a passport and a student visa. Start learning cybersecurity by exploring Python, Linux, networking, ethical hacking, and penetration testing. Use tools like Wireshark, Nmap, and Kali Linux. Look into programs at Georgian Technical University or Free University of Tbilisi to see if they offer practical learning and check tuition fees on their websites.
Apply to universities six to twelve months ahead, gather necessary documents and financial proof, and get admission. Boost your skills with free resources like TryHackMe, Hack The Box, CyberStart Game, PicoCTF, OverTheWire, and virtual internships or workshops on Internshala. Gain experience, expand your network, and improve your skills by joining cybersecurity clubs, entering competitions, contributing to open-source projects, and practicing problem-solving and analytical skills regularly.

If you are considering relocating to Georgia, it’s important to note that you will need to take the SAT as part of your admissions process; however, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is not a requirement for this state.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity, we suggest starting your journey by learning a programming language. Familiarising yourself with languages such as Python or Java can be incredibly beneficial. Additionally, gaining a solid understanding of networking concepts and the basics of Linux will provide a strong foundation for your studies and future work in cybersecurity. These skills are essential for effectively protecting systems and data in an increasingly digital world.

Hi Rondin,
Choosing cybersecurity right after 12th grade is a smart and proactive decision. Starting early gives you an advantage, so focus on math and science. I got into cybersecurity during my master's by taking minor courses, and now I work as a cybersecurity consultant. The field is vast, so think about what interests you most, like vulnerability assessment, threat defense, or organizational security such as identity access management. From my experience, aiming for strong SAT scores is important for getting into Georgia Tech.
Top Universities: Georgia Tech is highly ranked. Augusta University, with the Georgia Cyber Center, and UGA are also great choices.

Hi Rondin,
It’s great that you’re thinking about cybersecurity so early, because it’s a strong and growing career path. To answer your questions, you do not always need to write JEE to study cybersecurity. JEE is required mainly for top engineering colleges like IITs and NITs, but many private universities and other colleges either conduct their own entrance exams or offer admission based on your 12th marks, so there are multiple pathways available.
For eligibility, most degree programs like B.Tech or B.Sc. in Cybersecurity require you to complete your 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, usually with at least around 50–60% marks depending on the college. Some diploma or certification courses are more flexible and may allow students from different streams as long as they have basic computer knowledge.
When it comes to colleges, there are many good options in India. Top-tier institutions like IITs, IIITs, and NITs are highly competitive, while well-known private universities like VIT, SRM, and Amity also offer strong programs with good infrastructure and placement opportunities. The quality really depends on the specific college, so it’s important to look at factors like placements, labs, and industry exposure before choosing.
In terms of affordability, it varies widely. Government colleges are generally more affordable, while private colleges can be more expensive, with fees ranging from relatively low to several lakhs per year depending on the institution.
Cybersecurity is definitely worth studying if you are interested in technology and problem-solving. It is a high-demand field with many career opportunities such as security analyst, ethical hacker, and risk analyst, and the demand is expected to keep growing. [collegedunia.com]
Finally, regarding the percentage needed, most colleges require a minimum of around 50–60% in your 12th exams to be eligible, but for top colleges, admission depends more on entrance exam performance and rank rather than just percentage.
Overall, you don’t need to stress about one single path—there are multiple ways to enter cybersecurity, and your skills and consistency will matter the most in the long run.

Hi Rondin,
If you want to study cybersecurity in Georgia after 12th, follow these steps:
1. Finish 12th grade first and get your high school certificate or equivalent. Universities in Georgia usually need proof that you completed secondary school.
2. Choose a university and program. In Georgia, options taught in English include Cybersecurity or related programs at Caucasus University and The University of Georgia. Sometimes the program may be called Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Engineering, or Computer Science with a related focus.
3. Prepare your English proof. Most universities want about B2 level English. That usually means scores like IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 78 for Caucasus University, or IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL 72 for The University of Georgia. Some universities may also let you take their own English test.
4. Collect your documents. Usually you need your passport, school certificate, photo, and English certificate. Some universities may also ask for extra forms, financial papers, or medical/insurance documents.
5. Apply online through the university admission portal. At Caucasus University, students also complete a recorded video interview as part of the process.
6. Wait for admission and then do visa/residence steps if you are an international student. Many foreign students can apply without taking the Georgian national entrance exams.
Apply early. For example, Caucasus University lists deadlines such as August 20 for fall and October 20 for spring, so it is smart to prepare documents and English proof in advance.

Hello Rondin,
If you mean Georgia (the country), most universities accept students directly after 12th and usually don’t require JEE. You mainly need good 12th grade marks and basic admission documents.
Cybersecurity is a strong field with good future opportunities. Georgia can be more affordable than countries like the US, but you should still research the university quality, internship opportunities, and job prospects before deciding.

Kyle’s Answer
Yes, cybersecurity is a great option after 12th grade in India, but it's important to choose the right path. For a good mix of value, credibility, and job opportunities, aim for a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with a Cyber Security specialization at a reputable college. If your budget is tight or your grades are moderate, a B.Sc in Cyber Security is another choice, though it might not offer as strong job placements as a B.Tech.
1) How to study cybersecurity after 12th:
You have two main options:
- B.Tech/B.E. in Cyber Security or CSE with Cyber Security specialization: Ideal if you had Physics, Chemistry, and Math (PCM) in 12th and want better engineering job placements. Most colleges require around 50%-60% in Class 12.
- B.Sc in Cyber Security: Easier and cheaper to enter, often requiring Math, Computer Science, or related subjects, with around 45%-50% in many colleges. Good for a lower-cost path, but it usually has less market value than a strong B.Tech/CSE degree.
2) Is JEE necessary?
No, JEE is not required for all cybersecurity colleges. It's mainly needed for NITs, IIITs, and some other colleges. Many private universities have their own exams or accept CUET, board marks, or internal tests.
3) Eligibility criteria:
For B.Tech in Cyber Security, you generally need:
- 10+2 from a recognized board
- PCM subjects
- Usually 50%-60% aggregate, depending on the college
For JEE Main, there's no minimum percentage requirement, but for NITs/IIITs, general category students usually need 75% in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile, and 65% for SC/ST.
4) Are the colleges good?
Some are excellent, while others just use the "cybersecurity" label. Good colleges include VIT, SRM, UPES, Chandigarh University, LPU, Amity, NFSU, and strong CSE schools like NITs. College quality often matters more than the course title.
5) Is it affordable?
Costs vary between public and private colleges.
- Government colleges: ₹40,000 to ₹1.5 lakh per year
- Private colleges: ₹2–4 lakh per year, with some programs costing more
Examples of total tuition costs:
- NFSU: about ₹7.5 lakh
- VIT: about ₹7.83 lakh
- Amity Kolkata: about ₹7.52 lakh
- Chandigarh University: about ₹13.56 lakh
- SRM: about ₹17 lakh
- UPES: about ₹19.95 lakh
It can be affordable in some colleges, but private options can be expensive.
6) Is it worth studying?
Yes, if you enjoy tech, problem-solving, networking, and security. There's real demand, with starting salaries around ₹4–7 lakh per annum. It's worth it if the college is good, fees are reasonable, and you develop skills. It's not worth it if you pay a lot for a weak college with poor facilities.
7) Admission percentages:
A. Class 12 percentage:
- Many private B.Tech colleges: around 50%-60% in PCM
- NIT/IIIT/CFTI through JEE Main: usually 75% for general category, 65% for SC/ST, or top 20 percentile
B. Entrance exam score:
- Top NIT branches: often 97-99.8 JEE percentile
- NFSU: often around 97+ JEE percentile
- Some private universities: lower scores may be accepted, with better scores helping with scholarships
- CUET-based options: roughly 95-98 percentile for competitive B.Tech programs
Recommendation:
If you're in 11th or 12th grade and serious about cybersecurity:
- Focus on PCM subjects
- Prepare for JEE Main if possible to keep options open
- Apply to colleges with their own exams like VIT, SRM, Chandigarh, LPU, UPES
- Compare colleges based on fees, job placements, internships, labs, and curriculum
- If budget is tight, prioritize colleges that offer the best value over brand names
