What does career readiness mean in your own words?

Hi I am a high school student I just very curious about this question, but I need to help about this questions.

Career readiness means being comfortable with the uncomfortable. Every job comes with growth, uncertainty, and moments where you may not know exactly what to do yet. That is completely normal. To me, being career ready is not about having every answer on day one or even feeling like you are 100% "career ready". It is about being willing to ask questions, admit what you do not know, learn from others, and keep improving as you gain experience.

Career readiness involves more than just having the right degrees and knowledge. It's also about being mentally prepared, staying diligent, understanding the hard work involved, and building connections.

From my own journey, I didn't attend an Ivy League school. What really helped me succeed was my eagerness to learn, my ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and strong communication skills. Being open to the world around me made a big difference.

To me, career readiness means having the knowledge, the skills, and the background needed to pursue the career you want. But it also means having confidence in those skills and your knowledge. It means being comfortable knowing that you don't know everything and having a willingness to learn as much as possible and to continue learning. Being ready for a career is personal to everybody. I don't think there's one answer. I think it's very subjective, and some people may feel more ready than others even if they have the same background and skills.

I think it all comes down to once you have the skills you need, just knowing that you can do the job and you belong. Have a positive attitude, and just have a drive to get better every day.

I think everybody has started a new job or a new career and felt like they weren't ready for it even if they had the background and skills. I know I have. You just have to trust yourself and have confidence that you are ready and you'll be able to make an impact.

A simple way to explain this is: start with a clear goal. If you are in high school, think about what you want to accomplish after graduation and what kind of future you want to build. Take time to identify your goals and vision, then work backward to create a path that can lead you there. Once you have a plan, you are better prepared for your career journey.
