The activity that most changed how I thought about a career was starting night school at a local community college. During the day I worked full-time right out of high school because I needed to get an apartment so need a real income. I worked as a clerk/secretary at Social Service agency to start with. I enjoyed that work but realized not as a career so going to night school helped me learn different options and skills for careers. I started out studying electrical technician/engineering which helped me discover I was better at math that how I did in high school. BIG confidence booster. Even moving to another state with a telecommunication company didn't pause my night school studies and I eventually transferred to a College while continuing to work full-time. That is not the right path for everyone but it worked for me because I did NOT want to be the only family member without a Bachelor Degree while also supporting myself! I ultimately decided on a Math/Journalism degree - which I believe helped me get a promotion at my job into management by helping me develop great writing and analytical skills. Which all jobs need these days! So you'll see that starting with a baby step (one night school class) helped set me up for a Degree and more career options. Your first step could be talking to a career counselor to take an aptitude or skill tests, scheduling a meeting with people you know in careers of interest to you, taking a local college tour, etc. Hope this helps and best wishes.
