While I wasn't accepted into and didnt attend what I had initially considered to be my "dream" school from the onset, I grew to love my alma mater. The availability of resources, support of faculty, school spirit, friendships I formed and embracing of diversity and inclusion made it enjoyable for me.

Know what your "boxes" are and make sure the school checks them. For me it was rankings, diversity, student life, name recognition, and sports. I grew up wanting to go to a school that I eventually didn't get into, but love the school I did go to.

My first college as a FRESHMAN was not a good fit for me. I went to California State University at Northridge. It was / is a commuter school with no / little campus spirit. I was not happy at "CSUN." So, I transferred to a California Community College for my SOPHOMORE year. Then, as a JUNIOR, I found my "dream school" and graduated from the University of Southern California. Loved USC, the Trojan Family, and Student & Alumni spirit.
