Alexi, this is a great question! I think the best way to find out is to try it, and try others, too. The best internships I had in college were the ones I didn't enjoy, so I knew I could cross them off the list.

Brad’s Answer

Don't be afraid to test drive a career that interests you, and also . . . make sure your eyes are wide open in a job you "have to take" to get by. I started out as a parts delivery driver, with the expectation I would work there until I got my car paid off. The industry turned out to be fascinating, and so many doors opened up over that years that I'm still in the business 44 years later!

Jaanhvi’s Answer

Before I address the main part of your question, I'll first say that I don't think there is only one right career path for us. I also think people can start on one career path and later down the road realize they want to do something else - and then they change their path. This can happen multiple times, or not at all.

A good way to know if you've chosen the "right" career path for you, for this time in your career/life, is to continuously assess how you feel about the career. Do you enjoy the work most of the time? Do you feel like you're continuing to grow, and learning new things? Do you feel challenged? Do you like the people you're working with and connect with the values? As long as you can mostly say "yes" to those questions, I think you're usually on the right path.

Jaanhvi recommends the following next steps:

Set time aside every month or so to assess how you feel about your career and how it's contributing to your life.
