Honestly you don't really need a college degree to be a police officer. It is good to have a degree however if you want to be more than just a patrol officer. You can attend any college and I would highly recommend a criminal justice degree. In the meantime however I would look at getting your foot in the door by either being a corrections officer either with juveniles or adults. You have to go through training to be a peace officer and this provides you experience to put on your resume when trying to become a police officer

Some schools are better than others when it comes to going to school for law enforcement. It also depends on what specifically you want to do in law enforcement. Criminal Justice is the most popular major. The Jon Jay School for Criminal Justice in New York is a university specifically for that.
