How can I participate to bring a change in the world using AI?

My goal for using Artificial Intelligence is to be able to make an impact in the world. There are many people that aren't even familiar with the term, and I want to be there for them. I recently submitted a project on developing a smart mirror using educational resources. I later added an Artificial Intelligence feature that can actually be much more easier for people to learn from and make it interesting. How can I do the same thing and make a difference globally? #career #tech

AI is a very generic and broad term and it can apply to many things. It sounds like you like to teach people about AI than applying AI. Either ways, learn more about machine learning applications out there. If you are interested, learn machine learning techniques as well. Then you can decide whether you want to work on techniques or applications for the betterment of people or teaching others to spread the knowledge.

Keep in mind that the term AI is used pretty broadly. You can also look into projects that include terms like "Machine Learning". Computers are really good at doing repetitive tasks, which could consist of processing large amounts of data, and that could arise in pattern detection and/or a decrease in noise.

One example that I've seen is a project formerly called Crowd Flower (now part of Figure Eight): https://www.figure-eight.com/blog/

Using Machine Learning, they are helping to automate detection of plants in images. Some companies are using that type of data to help give farmers analyses of images of their fields. Agriculture often has a really low profit margin, so even saving 1% of their overhead in a season makes a huge difference to farmers.
