Career advice in VLSI design (UI)

Dear Sir/Madam

I have completed BTech in Electronics & Communications.
I have completed VLSI Front End (GUI) based on my family member's advice.

May I know if I am pursing in right direction in VLSI ?
Is there any possible job opportunities in India or abroad?

Thank you.

Hi Ramu,

It is great to hear that you have completed the Engineering course and are willing to pursue your career in the field of VLSI Design. There are endless opportunities in lot of companies in the field of front end designing, both within India and abroad. Synopsys, Qualcomm, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, ST Microelectronics are few companies to name.
Although getting into these companies can be challenging as most companies look for experience candidates, however a lot of companies offer internship opportunities which can prove helpful in getting in the industry.

Further, there are a number of consulting firms like RealSilicon/ Spontey which provide design consulting services to big giants of semiconductor world. I would suggest that one can start his/her career with such companies and can then climb the ladder into the corporate world.

Be patient and keep learning.

Hope the answer helps.

Hi Ramu,

VLSI Design is a good step if you want to pursue a career in ECE. Recently we have Google opening Hardware engineering division in Bangalore that you can explore alongside Qualcomm etc.

If you want to pursue a career abroad, you can probably try for a M.S degree.

Please feel free to buzz me if you want more info.

Regards,

Prashant

Hi Ramu,

Happy to hear that you have done ECE and VLSI Front End (GUI) already, which would be definitely useful for your career. There are multiple companies in Bangalore/India which are based on VLSI. Examples are LSI, Wipro- VLSI division(they hire freshers and train on VLSI as well), Texas instruments, NXP semiconductors, Intel etc.

If you are interested in going abroad, then you can do your masters in VLSI to find better job opportunities. Hope the information helps you.

All the best !!
