The most common certification in the automotive industry are administered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence or ASE as they are more commonly refereed as. There are several different series of tests depending on the type of work you are performing. These certifications are valid for 5 years. More information can be found on the ASE website https://www.ase.com/.

Each certification is different as some require re certification and some do not. It is learning about the certificate that you will take and seeing the expiration date since some can be a year while others can vary
