I always recommend shadowing a therapist in the field. You can shadow in an outpatient clinic, skilled nursing facility or a hospital. Each has their pros and cons. The next step will be research schools. Look at their pass rate for both the classes and the board exam, look at class sizes and recommendations. Talk to current and even previous students. Always make sure the school you choose is CAPTE Accredited. Another great resource is the American Physical Therapy Association. We have a lot of wonderful leaders who love to talk with new students, upcoming students and anyone needing help.
