Moneta’s Answer
In a retail setting specifically, three important things you should know are:
1. Accuracy is vital. Follow the processes no matter how mundane they may seem. Lives are in your hands.
2. Be the person you want your co-workers to be. What I mean is, if you want to be able to trust your co-workers, be trustworthy yourself. You will be in the same building with these people for many hours a day. Be, or become, the person you’d want to work alongside.
3. Never stop learning. Even if it’s simple tricks of the trade, listen to the other people, pharmacists and techs, and learn from their experiences. Listen when they talk about the medication. You may learn something that could save someone else’s life one day. There is a wealth of knowledge out there. Keeps your eyes and ears open.

This is concise and accurate. Paying attention and reading comprehension are paramount in this profession. I'd add the ability to let comments slide is important, too. Often you'll be in a high stress environment, and co-workers will bicker. Like Moneta said, be the person you want them to be, and you'll get through the nonsense.
