Janet’s Answer

Thanks for the question Nessa! One of the hardest parts of my job (and many jobs) is all of my fellow workers have their own 'to do' list every day. Their own boss that expects certain work to be done. So it can be hard to get others to see the importance of what I need them to focus on when their plate is already full of other competing work.

So what to do? It’s important to communicate when you need them to finish their part of the work. A time line, and clear communication on what you need them to do. That allows the other person to prioritize their work, including getting you what you need, when you need it. Doesn’t mean they always will, but it lays the ground work for expectations.

Hope this helps! Best wishes to you.

Vineeth’s Answer

My job is to execute program, start technical projects from scratch and deliver those. Many at times it is difficult to make engineers understand about the success of the project, time management, deliverable etc. At times its difficult to talk to stake holders to convince a mistake from the team, bug / delay in the deliverable.

Prerna’s Answer

Hello Nessa,

This one sounds interesting !

The most difficult part for me would be striking a balance between the time I give to my family/friends and to work. Sometimes the other challenge is the tasks that are being assigned may become overwhelming, but to overcome those has its own charm! :)

Hope this helps!

Nick’s Answer

One challenge for many people is establishing a good relationship with their manager. You may feel that your manager has a lot of power over you and this can distort your normal behavior on a personal level. Listen closely to your manager and watch how they interact with others to learn the best way to communicate. For example, don't be surprised if you meet with your manager prepared to discuss work and they want to discuss sports. In this case you can hope they trust your work is good and the meeting is more of a social interaction. A good manager will mix social and business so be prepared for both.
