What distinguishes bio-medical engineering from bio-medical technology?

I've been considering becoming a bio-medical engineer in my near future, but there's also the option of becoming a bio-medical technologist. Is there a major difference I should take into account? #biomedical-engineering

Hi Emon, the biggest difference between a biomedical technologist and biomedical engineer is that a biomedical technologist is responsible for more hands on support for technology in clinical settings, while a biomedical engineer is typically involved in designing and developing that equipment.

Both are great career options and involve the medical field, but they have very different responsibilities,
- If you would like to work hands on in a hospital or medical office setting training clinical staff and maintaining/selecting equipment, a biomedical technologist diploma is a great option
- If you are looking to work for a medtech company or in academia developing new medical technologies, a biomedical engineering degree would be best
