How long does it usually take to become an aerospace engineer?

Because I've heard that a major in engineering takes more than 4 years because of the heavy math. #aerospace

Ld’s Answer

Yep that's generally true. Most guys I know who are engineers came in their freshman year with AP math in High School completed, and were able to go into Calc 1 in their freshman fall or spring semester. Either that, or they had to delay their program until they were up to speed with the math, and some of them either did summer school or took 5 years. Not a big deal, believe me. However, after you get out of school and get a job, you then need to work for a company that can oversee your work as an engineer for four years before you can get the certification as an engineer. So be advised that is an add on. THAT BEING SAID, it is an excellent career with lots of prospects! If I had to do it all again, I would have studied mechanical or aerospace. I wish you the best of luck!

Yes, engineering in general is heavy on math. To get a bachelors in aerospace engineering it would take you from 3 to 5 years. It all depends on you and how many courses you are taking per year.
