Other than interpreter positions, what other positions are available in the Federal Government for someone majoring in Applied Linguistics?

I am asking because, I am extremely interested in languages, especially American Sign Language, and am interested in working with the Federal Government. #federal-government #foreign-languages #linguistics

Hi Cheyenne! That is awesome.... there are lots of government agencies that look for folks that can speak multiple languages, can teach, or are willing to learn. I'd encourage you to look on usajobs.gov.

I'd also consider you to think about -- what does your dream job look like? Would you like to teach others (roles in the federal government)? Do you have any other interests where you could support translation on a particular topic? Do you want a role where you can continue to learn and practice more languages (State department, etc.)? Hopefully this helps you get some ideas!

Language is a powerful tool - good luck!
