To apply for law school in England, is it that I must have a bachelor's degree relate to law example LLB or it does not matter what what I major or minor in?

To apply for law school, you can select any major for your undergraduate. It helps to choose a major that will help you build the critical thinking, reading and writing skills you need for law school and a career as a lawyer. At USC, you choose your major of choice, and attend pre-law writing classes for your general ed classes. Depending on what specialty you wish to practice as a lawyer, you would choose a major to support that. For example if you want to be a biotech industry lawyer, you would study the sciences as your undergrad major.

Best advice I received: It's best to major in something that you enjoy doing in order to obtain the highest GPA possible. A preference would be something with a writing component. Oftentimes colleges have pre-law fraternities/sororities that may be aligned with law schools. They also participate in mock trials, etc. Be sure to try and intern or work as a clerk (or similar) in the field to make sure it's the right decision for you. Best of luck!

Hi Jennel: Short answer, no! Getting into law school requires an undergrad degree in any field and good LSAT scores. Lawyers come in all different sizes, shapes and backgrounds. The more variety the better. Plus the law is a very diverse field. There are criminal lawyers, civil lawyers, corporate lawyers, tax lawyers. Follow your own passion as an undergrad. The rest will work it's self out. Plus, being a well rounded person makes you a better lawyer. Lawyers may be boring - but if we all came from the same background we'd be REALLY boring!

Hello Jennel,

You do not have to have a degree related to law, to attend Law School. Though major in criminology can give you a strong foundation for understanding the criminal justice system, & make it a little easier for you to take the LSAT, as well as help you while you’re actually attending Law School, but it's not sufficient to become a lawyer.
