Princess Jennifer’s Answer

Hi! I was directed to your question.
I’ve been a NICU nurse for about 5 months now and I can tell you that it is a specialized field. You would need to have graduated from nursing school to obtain to her Registered Nurse (RN) license, which is usually a 2-year program, but will eventually become 4 years when you add the 2 years of general classes depending on the college/university. To get into the NICU, most facilities would want new graduates to have had practicum experience before working at their facility. I would recommend looking up places of employment and ask the managers questions about specific requirements that they would want in their NICU so that you would be able to build a resume for it. Once you get hired, you will (should) start off in orientation, which is a period where you get to follow a trusted nurse and learn the ropes of being a NICU nurse. Hope this helps!
