Margaret’s Answer

Typically to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will need a Master's Degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited college. Once you have a Master's degree, you will need to complete supervised hours of experience (it's 3000 hours of supervised clinical experience here in North Carolina) as well as complete an exam and application for licensure.

Crystal’s Answer

Though students can earn a bachelor's in counseling psychology, they need a master's degree to become a licensed counselor. Requirements for licensure vary by state, but they generally include holding a graduate degree, continued education, and proof of several thousand hours working under a licensed counselor
