Stephen’s Answer

When I used to write for a video game show, we had a segment called Industry News with a skit at the beginning. This skit flopped every time since they felt forced. When our broadcast advisor watched our clips, he gave great advice that comedy is subjective and not everyone will find you funny. We eventually abandoned the skits and relied on our talents' natural personality and the segments greatly improved. With that, I recommend taking the following steps in establishing your channel's voice:

Stephen recommends the following next steps:

What do you find naturally funny?
Who is your target audience and what do they find funny?
Marry the two and write jokes in your own voice. This will allow your content to feel organic without pandering to a type of humor. Authentic content works best, especially in social media.
Thank you comment icon Thank you Stephen, I will try my best to incorporate these guide lines into my comedy Devin

Trent’s Answer

One method you can use to 'bring the funny' is to simply take a stand on any topic. It is easiest if the view is your honest belief. And when your belief is potentially contrary to the majority. But you have to clearly take one side and don't be apologetic for that opinion. It is your point of view and trust me your view is correct, then just explain why your view is right and everybody else is just wrong. You can do this on most topics. For example, you you believe the earth is flat. Explain why the earth could not possibly be round. Be sincere and use the most exaggerated points of view. "If the earth were round and spinning, Why aren't we all dizzy all the time? "

I hope this helps.

Anant’s Answer

Hello Devin ,

Joke making is usually of two types :

1) Punch Down : When you make fun of someone who is physically , mentally , emotionally , Financially weaker than you.
You're NOT supposed to Punch Down

2) Punch Up : When you make fun of someone who is physically , mentally , emotionally , Financially stronger than you.
You're supposed to Punch up !!

Also look at your Audience. A lot of jokes you do depend upon who are you making jokes for.

All the Best !
