Holden, the only career advice I would like to give you - be honest with yourself, and consider careers which require your natural talents and interests. That is the only way you can become successful in a long-term - by enjoying daily tasks and applying your strengths.

Regarding the specific steps and actions, research (online) opportunities available in your region - those are different from country to country. Consider different options, try different jobs until you will find what you truly enjoy and stick to it.

I hope that helps. If you are looking for opportunities in welding, this article might help you:

Good luck, and let me know if I can help you with further questions.
Best,
Olga

Olga recommends the following next steps:

Research online or speak to people which are already in jobs you are interested in.

Holden,

This is a great time for you to be thinking about your career choices. Starting with what you enjoy or are passionate about is a perfect place to start! When you choose a career in an area you enjoy, you are setting yourself up for success.

Welding has many applications in construction and engineering fields. My grandfather was a welder, who worked for an Auto Maker. I had a friend with a very cool welding job doing underwater welding for oil companies. He also loved to dive so he combined both passions into a career.

If you have the chance in school to take a Shop or Auto Body class, that might give you the chance to explore welding. Also, you may ask a guidance counselor if there are programs or mentorships offered through school that are available for career exploration.

Good luck to you !

Joe’s Answer

Any of your interests will be great careers.Welding is good because it usually pays very well and you can work at it until retirement. Pipe welders are highly skilled craftsmen that are in demand.Mechanics and farriers are very skilled as well, but the work is harder on your body so you might not be able to work at them until retirement . Hope that this helps.
