[closed] How do you remain interested and excited about a career in management after you have been in it for a long time?

I am a college senior with an interest in business administration and a major of management. Soon, I will be graduating. In addition, there is something that I would like to do so that it triggers my happiness. I would like to learn a little bit more about management. Once I get into my career, I realize that I may become somewhat bored after a while if I do the same things too often. I would like to ask: "How would I keep my focus, fun, and desire to do the job that I would be doing?"

Thank you,
Aimee #management

I have been managing for over 25 years now and I generally don't find myself bored. The reason for me is in great part due to the people I work with, the teams I manage and the number of new problems I deal with daily. Like any job, being a manager has it's repetitive elements. You have to hire people, you have to fire people, you have to do reviews; but this is not the majority of the job. And the job varies daily with the problems you are required to solve.

Pick an industry you are passionate about, and no matter what position you hold be it in management, programming or finance and you will not be bored.

The thing that keeps a job interesting are the daily challenges you face, in an industry you love, and how you go about addressing those challenges either by yourself or in collaboration with others.

Hope that helps some.
