[closed] Must women wear make-up in order to get ahead in the workplace?

Hello,

I am a business senior with an interest in administration and a major of management. The slight preference for me is with management. My knowledge of communication has taught me to go the extra mile and to make a nice impression, but I often wonder where the limits are drawn. Today there is a growing concern and movement towards women having natural beauty. I believe that women should feel beautiful from the inside regardless of whether or not they wear makeup and cosmetics. Is it a necessary evil for women to dress their face up in heavy makeup when applying for an office management job? Does it matter much if job performance can still be met without makeup? I am not sure if women must wear makeup when working...

Thank you. #business-administration #office-management #job-coaching

Women do not need to wear make-up in order to get ahead in the workplace. I know scores of women, both in entry-level and leadership positions, who do not apply make-up everyday. I'd agree with you that all people ought to feel beautiful based on what's on the inside and that everyone should learn how to appreciate themselves based on factors other than appearance.

That being said, I think that appearance is still important. To me, being well-groomed is a sign of respect for the people around you. You don't have to wear expensive clothes and do your hair all the time, but putting effort into the basics - brushing your hair, making sure your wardrobe is appropriate for your workplace (e.g., business casual vs. a super relaxed jeans and t-shirt environment) - shows that you care.
