What is the best skill one can posess in the business and working field today?

With midterms around the corner, I have become curious about what are important skills to have in today's work force. I know that time management is always looked for but I was curious about what else is looked for in a potential hire. #business #job-skills #personal-development

Samia’s Answer

Hello Miles,

Interesting question. I know that you said "best" but I am going to give you my top three. I will start with Flexibility: ability to get the job done no matter the boundaries, show that you can adjust to different situations/people. Next is Confidence: if you reflect cofidence it is easier for people and more comforting for them to delegate work/opportunities your way. Lastly I would say Proactivity: Once you find a problem, come back with a solution to the problem, not just the problem itself.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Samia.

I agree with points Samia said those are extremely useful skills to have! Try to hone those skills! In my personal opinion communication is one of the most important skills to have. In the workforce email is a major key. Learn how to communicate effectively through email. You will be constantly emailing people such as your co-workers, boss, and clients. Communication is important in meetings also! You want to effectively report things to your boss, co-workers, and clients/potential clients. If you are shy, try to improve on your public speaking because mostly everyone will have to give presentations during their Careers.

Hope this is useful! Feel free to reach out in the comment section if you have any more questions! Good luck!

Greg’s Answer

I agree with communication. Specifically, I think that follow up, follow through, and having the desire to delight those internal or external customers you are serving is very important. Few do this well.
