What sacrifice does it takes to become a successful engineer?

I'm asking this question because I'm curios about how much time an engineer sacrifice to work on their project. #engineer #experts

I think it really comes down to how passionate you are about your chosen career path. I would consider myself fairly successful engineer in that I was sponsored to come to the US but I sacrificed a lot to do that.
If you only want to work 40 hours a week and happy with a slow climbing career and not looking to move outside your country then you can be a successful engineer and work on some nice projects. But if you are the type of person who wants to work on large dams, big tunnels, high speed rail or be on the cutting edge (like working for Tesla/Lockheed Martin/Boston Dynamics/Google, etc.) then it's more of a question of "what are you willing to sacrifice to be successful".
If the answer is everything, a lot, as much as it takes, then you will get there (I'm not talking about break rules, going against what you believe but about working nights, not going out with your friends, weekends, some holidays, and relocating where the project you want to work on is). The difference is, if it's a passion, like Michael Jordan was passionate about basketball, then the sacrifice won't be a sacrifice at all. You'll love what you do most of the time (even if you are passionate there are days that suck) and you wouldn't have your life any other way.
So the more important question that I would ask you is, do you have a passionate for engineering, if yes then don't worry about the sacrifice.
