Hi Victoria,
After working several years in highly competitive IT industry and having a successful career, I have settled on following goal for rest of my career:
1. Identify your strengths (e.g. Leadership, Technical, Management, etc.) and pick up jobs/roles that match your strengths. Avoid chasing "next hot thing".
2. Make sure your are enjoying your work each day. If you are not happy for extended period of time, its time to make changes.
3. Put yourself 30-40 years into future and consider whether looking-back you will be satisfied with what you are doing now.
Hope this helps. All the best!!

Hi, Victoria!
You've got great goals and aspirations for your future, and I encourage you to think more fully about how you are able to reach them. What things do you need to do? Take note of where you are now and where you want to be. What are your strengths? your weaknesses? How can you capitalize on those strengths, and what can you do to turn your weaknesses into strengths? or just work around those areas where you're not as strong?
I think most people will tell you that their job goals changed over the years, for a variety of reasons. Life happens, and sometimes gets in the way of your plans. But as one door closes, others open and can often provide a better opportunity. An opportunity you may not have seen or even imagined as a possibility.
My job goals changed several times throughout my educational years. What I thought I wanted in high school was enlightened through my time at university. Graduating and moving into graduate school led to a new revelation, and I changed focus again. By the time I entered my doctoral program, however, I had what I wanted to do with my life in sight. Although even to this day (17 years post graduation), I find that I continue to evolve. One thing remains the same, however: my love of education and working with young people to determine what they want to do with their lives.
My career goal is to utilize my talents and aptitudes to the best of my abilities to impact the future of education and those who pursue it. Why? Because I believe in the power of education and what it can do to change the trajectory of a person's life.
I hope that you, too, will be able to enjoy a long and successful career doing the things that you love. With that comes the satisfaction of pulling your life together and, often, being financially sound. I wish you the best in your future endeavors!
