That's a great question! It is great that you already have a passion for and experience with exercising. If you are interested in making it your career, it would be helpful to have a courses in Human Anatomy, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, and Nutrition. If you pursue a degree in exercise science, you can receive your ACSM certification. You can also become certified outside of a college course through accredited institutions like NASM, ACE, ISSA, etc. They typically have online courses you can sign-up for where you will take an exam at the end for your certification.

It is also useful to be educated in Sales and Marketing being a personal trainer is similar to running your own business. In general, it's like selling yourself to potential clients that you are well-educated in fitness and have the expertise to help them reach their goals. The passion for working out will show when you're working with clients which is always a plus!

Awesome! Becoming a personal trainer can be very rewarding. Technically, you don't HAVE to any education beyond high school in order to become a personal trainer. You only need to have a recognized certification.

Some gyms provide you with the opportunity to get certified in-house and gain experience at the same time. Others require a nationally recognized certification. There are plenty of options, some that allow you to complete a home-study program and others that require you to take an in-person training. Among the top picks are usually the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), and more.

Any additional education you get is a bonus!

Check your local job boards to see what the gyms in your area are looking for and choose the one that best fits your needs!
