Allison’s Answer

Korean is now an available language on the application "Duolingo". There are both free and paid versions available and I have found it an outstanding tool for language learning.

Allison recommends the following next steps:

Download Duolingo app (ipone or android) or go to www.duolingo.com to use website
Thank you comment icon Korean is now also available on Busuu (busuu.com), it's a great way to learn useful phrases and practise with native speakers as you can send practice exercises to native speakers! Eva V

Layonnah’s Answer

I’m learning Korean right now. There are so many ways that you can start the actual process. If you want to do it alone you can learn all on youtube and websites others recommend to you. I haven’t had a tutor for myself, but many people I’ve watched have had tutors and there progress gets better from week 1.

I recommend starting learning the alphabet from a native speaker to the the sounds and the letter names down packed.
Then you can go ahead and start learning conversational sentences as well as vocabulary.
Some youtube channels I watched that have Helped me out a lot are

Learn Korean in Korean
빅키샘Miss Vicky
김선생님 Korean Teacher
Hailey_Your Korean Friend
Korean Unnie 한국 언니

These are the ones that have helped me personally the most. There are so many more but don’t take it to seriously if you feel like it’s getting to hard take a break and when ever your ready again you can get back on track where you left off

David’s Answer

Many ex-pats live in Korea while working -- teaching English, working at a university as staff, working at a multinational, etc. Not sure what language background you have, but learning a new language from scratch without being immersed in it can be difficult. And as others have noted, you want that consistency and multiple ways to practice. I think being in Korea has to be the best way. If you have your heart set on it, I wouldn't discount looking into working or studying there to speed up the learning curve.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Sunmyung’s Answer

I think the best way to learn Korean (actually any language) is to fall in love with Korean culture. Listening to K pop, watching K dramas and K movies, eating K food will naturally make you learn the language. Wishing you all the best!

Kevin’s Answer

Hi Texan,

Yeah, you can sure learn Korean if you set your mind to it. It just requires practice and time, but it is for sure doable. There are tons of resources on youtube and the internet. The biggest factor in learning is probably consistency. Setting goals and completing them in a certain time frame would help a lot. That way you can make sure you don't just procrastinate and end up never learning the language. Taking online classes or going to school to learn the language are viable options as well. There are many different classes or programs you can take to learn. Good luck!
