Hi!

There are many ways to learn about the stock market. One way could be watching TV channels such as Bloomberg. There are also many ways to learn from newsletters such as Morning Brew and The Wall Street Journal. Reading articles from these will keep you updated on what is happening in the market and what to expect from analysts and others involved in the stock market.

I highly recommend giving the Morning Brew newsletter a read. It's an awesome daily email that delivers latest stock info, top business news and other interesting facts affecting the market in a way that's informative, humorous and fun to read. It is free and only takes 5 minutes to read each morning.

Vani’s Answer

The stock market is where investors (anyone interested in owning a piece of a company) connect to buy and sell investments — most commonly, stocks. When you purchase a public company's stock (or shares), you're purchasing a small piece of that company. Investing in the stock market is open to anyone. Stock are shares of ownership in a public company.

The stock market serves two purposes - 1. It allows for a company to seek funding or gain capital (money) by listing the company on the stock market (like the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) in India, the NASDAQ in the US).
2. It also allows for the company to share its profits with the people who invest in it via dividends and gain from selling the stock when its price increases.
