Electricians usually start their days in the early morning and gather all materials needed for the job. Often times electricians are assigned to site locations to complete these jobs or projects. At a construction site, the electrician is called in to install the wiring for a building, the structure is usually halfway complete.
Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Its important they are aware of and ensure their work is in accordance with relevant codes. They may install or service street lights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems. They also plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Hours can depend on the type of electrician work. If you are on a project, maybe you will have earlier or set hours. Sometimes you will also travel. Maintenance electricians have 40 hr work weeks and typically report to a main office and assigned to residential locations.
