What careers should I be looking for? How do I even get my foot in the door?
I have a Bachelor's in Sociology, minor in International Relations, and a Master's in Criminal Justice in Homeland Security. What should my searches involve? I am willing to move anywhere. #recruiting #social-networking

My best advice is to try and land an entry-level role within an industry you're interested in. When I graduated college, I really wasn't sure where I wanted to go, so I started working for a major retailer in an entry-level position. The role was largely administrative at first, but it gave me great exposure to different arms of business at the company. I used some of my free time at work "interviewing" people who I thought their job was interesting and determined where I wanted to go from there. You'll be shocked how much people want to help newcomers learn and grow!
After I determined I wanted to specialize in Talent Acquisition, I was able to eventually switch industries again down the road with a little experience under my belt.
Best of luck to you!

There is a broad spectrum of careers you can pursue. You could find work both in the public and private sectors for organizations involved in homeland security, human rights and any other humanitarian crisis. You could also go the route of analysis and become an analyst or a researcher.

Hi Melissa,
You should be search sites like www.usajobs.gov for government positions. You should also look at Department of Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, police departments, especially around border areas and large international gateways like New York city. You have a great educational background in a field that is very hot. Just keep looking and applying.
Best of luck!
