Hi Que. My best advice would be to start by filming things you enjoy. Is there a nice area outside in your neighborhood? Do you have a friend or 2 who would let you film them? Maybe write a short scene or script for them? It’s all about getting out there and creating that experience. You can do it!

There are a few paths here. School is the first and most obvious one, and there are many good film schools throughout the country, although LA and NYC mostly come to mind. The film industry is all about relationships, so moving to a city where the industry is thriving and building professional relationships is key to being successful in this industry. The entry level position on film sets is PA - production assistant. Going to film school, practicing the craft, building relationships and working your way up the ladder is the path most filmmakers follow. Hope this helps!
