What degree would I want if I plan on going into Environmental Science?

I'm not exactly sure what I want to do, so should I keep it more generalized, or go for something more specific? #environmental-science #college

Thank you comment icon Hi! Many schools offer degrees in Environmental Studies or Environmental Science, either as a B.A. or a B.S.. The field is pretty interdisciplinary so I've also taken sociology, communication, and philosophy classes about environmental science as well. erica

Erica’s Answer

As Neala said, some colleges offer degrees in environmental science. Colleges that do not have specific environmental science degrees likely offer degrees in biology, ecology, and zoology, to name a few. Any of those degrees can lead to work in the environmental science field.

As for whether to earn a more general degree or focus on something specific, taking entry-level classes may help you decide. I was recently speaking to a biology major at the end of their first year of college. They shared they took an entry-level ecology course, loved it, and planned to switch majors.
