First I would take some courses to learn the basics of how the web/internet works. Anything regarding SEO, Social Media, Front End Coding (html/css) will give you a solid foundation to how organic/paid search works.

Google also has free classes/certification that you can post to your resume/online profile. Fundamentals and more intense courses based on what apps you are interested in.

Stephanie,

Usually your first year in college is filled with pre-requisite classes. Depending on your college, there may be other classes you can take within your designated degree. It would be good for you to take marketing classes your first year to make sure that you want to continue in the Marketing career path.
