Gerardo, helping people be healthy through fitness training is an honorable goal. You will need to study human health and anatomy, if you go on to College you may want to major in Human Health Sciences, a Pre-Med program would prepare you well to understand the human body and health needs. Look for courses in Anatomy and Physiology as well as Nutrition. If you are not ready for college, consider a self-study program such as the American College of Sports Medicine: https://www.acsm.org/get-stay-certified/get-certified.
Ask to shadow trainers or coaches who you work with and observe how they communicate with athletes and clients. Working in a fitness center, even at the check in desk, is a great way to familiarize yourself with the type of environment you would eventually work in one day.

Pamela recommends the following next steps:

Ask to shadow a trainer or coach. Offer to take video clips of their atheltes and clients for review.
Choose what your next step in education is: college? self-study program to become a personal trainer?
Practice working with a friend or family member. Keep it simple and stay safe! Start small with stretching or a bodyweight exercise.

If you truly want to do this for a career and not just be an "influencer" on instagram or some other platform, then you need to get a four year degree in either Exercise Science or Kinesiology. Since you are in CA, there are many great schools that feature both of these programs, but look into Cal State Fullerton first and foremost. Their Kinesiology program is nationally known to be one of the best and most research driven.

Good Luck!

Hi Gerardo: you might consider becoming a personal trainer to start. I believe the livestrong website has some insights: http://www.livestrong.com/article/16354-long-become-personal-trainer/

You might look at this program to get into something that can very quickly start making you hirable. But if you're interested in becoming a nutritionist, you can really get a better job while still being able to do the training. You'll need a college degree, but you can probably get courses knocked out part time while working as well. I have a friend who is doing this right now. She has been a personal trainer for 5 or 6 years, but is finding that it is a struggle to increase her income, which is what I believe you might find out: it's steady work to start, but you may have trouble being able to increase your pay. The key is to make yourself more marketable. (NOTE: I'm not 100% sure on that answer, and you may just want to go to the gym and ask a certified trainer for advice. But I didn't want to leave you hanging for an answer.) Good luck
