Are there a lot of scholarships for pilots in the military?

I would speak to a good recruiter. Tell them what you are looking for. Most pilots are officers already so need college degree to start I think. Good luck there are lots of bonuses for pilots.

Being a pilot in the military is extremely competitive. You will need a college degree. As for scholarships, there are ROTC and NROTC scholarships available for you to apply. If you want to attend a traditional college, that would be your best route for a scholarship. Another option for you is to apply to a service academy. Your education is free in exchange for a commitment to service. Every branch has pilots. You could apply to West Point, Annapolis, or the Air Force Academy.

Well, I would not call them Scholarships as you would have to enlist to receive any benefit. After you take your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) you can select a branch of service that best suits your needs. If you already fly or if you want to fly you best bet my be the Air Force or as others like to say "Chair force" as they have the most flying options followed by the Navy. If you have your degree that's best and another very good job option is Air Traffic control or ATC.

BTW I did my Basic in South Carolina. Go Army!

I just want to add another motive here. Being a pilot for a military branch can be beneficial in many ways. Of course, it would help your country achieve its missions. But besides that, if you do get in and become a military pilot and then you do not continue a military pilot career, keep in mind that MANY commercial pilots (that fly for Southwest Airlines, United, American, Delta, as well as other international airlines) started as military pilots. It's a great way to get trained for free (in exchange for service) because flying schools are generally very expensive! So, if you do get in and decide not to stay in the military (perhaps your belief system changes, or whatever), then you can still use your flying skills to fall back on a nice career in aviation elsewhere.
