I am wanting to become a pediatric cardio sonographer but am unaware what path I need to take to get there. What AA to BS or if i need to get into a specific program. Will be depressing from the military in about a year. What locations have the best programs in Orlando/Tampa florida?

Patricia:

I think you need at least two years of school to get an associate degree in sonography or health sciences. Before applying make sure that the school is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Below are the websites that will provide you information in Florida about how to become a pediatric cardio sonographer. Best of luck with your pursuit!

Hi! It would be best to get at least in associates degree in sonography, there are certificate programs that you can complete but they're only good for 12-24 months. I would also look into a basic cardio sonographer program and then look into earning a certification in pediatric sonography. If you know someone in the field already or want to get a head start I'd start OJTing and shadowing a cardiologist or one of their technicians. You can also volunteer and make a log that shows what you've done while there and have them sign it. I would recommend researching colleges in your area and reaching out to the admissions office for further guidance as far as the best programs.

Best of Luck!
