When will great teachers get the pay, they deserve?
Teachers play a crucial role in shaping our future generations. Most teachers that actually care for the student's success is obviously not in it for the money, but it is about time that they get compensated for the knowledge and support they provide for their students. #FALL22 #teachersmatter #nextgeneration

Some school districts are trying to target price increases for specific teachers or subjects rather than offering blanket price increases. Historically, educational ideals have often been about equity and fair treatment, which can be difficult to implement politically. Nonetheless, some school districts are able to raise salaries in a variety of ways.

Sen. Bernie Sanders from Vermont has proposed a law mandating a minimum annual salary of $60,000 for teachers. Meanwhile, Tennessee, under the leadership of Republican Gov. Bill Lee and a largely Republican legislature, passed a law last year to increase the minimum salary for teachers to $50,000 by 2026.

A few communities have found ways to increase educators' pay. They realize that they must put value into recruiting and retaining quality teachers. What you (and your community) can do right now is to vote for officials who also make educator compensation a priority.

This is a great question and one I am always wondering asking myself. I think it begins with paying student teachers. We have a teacher shortage partially because students are asked to work a full-time job for free (actually paying to work) for 6 months and are told not to have a job outside of that. What do students do that don't have the means for that? Well, you're out of luck because you have to complete student teaching to graduate. I am seeing organizations begin to fight for this, but unfortunately I doubt it will go far. It's strange though because if you ask just about anyone, they will tell you that teachers are underpaid and overworked. And yet, this continues. I wish there was an easy fix, but all we can do is continue to talk about this issue and fight for teachers. I hope that the fact that teachers are continuing to leave the field at growing rates will open people's eyes more to see this issue.

The cry for proper compensation for teachers is one that has been belabored for several decades now. It is sad that the ones training all the other professionals, is the one who is least regarded in most parts of the world. This is a difficult paradox to understand.
Even though some countries such as Switzerland, Luxembourg, Canada, United States, Rwanda, and Germany, are paying attention to the needs of teachers in recent times, there is still more to be done.
With regards to when teachers will be well-compensated, I believe that will happen when more teachers and more unselfish people begin to go into POLITICS and start having influence in decision making. Think about this, when did 'Politicians' begin getting higher salaries and unnecessary compensations, especially in many third world countries? It was when many 'Greedy people' started going into politics to enrich themselves at the expense of the citizens' well-being.
So, if we need a change for teachers, for those who are training the next generation of leaders, it must start from You and me. Making a conscious effort to direct focus towards teachers.
