Andrew’s Answer

Start with the people you know. Ask them questions to see what they like and don’t like about their careers. Do research online to learn more. Think about your own strengths and weaknesses. Think about what you’re passionate about. Be open to learning and new possibilities. Look up videos of different professions online. Explore your options.

Thank you for your question. Many students have the same question. This a question what you have interest.
Below is my suggestions:
1. Think about what your have interest, eg your interest, hobbies, favourite subjects, etc. and identify the related careers
Eg if you are interested in Maths, would you like to be an accountant, banker, engineer, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
If you are interested in music, would you like to be a musician, singer, music producer, composer, music teacher, etc.
2. Explore more on these subjects and find out what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in the college
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Connie’s Answer

Understand what makes you happy and write it down. As you right these down, look for commonality and patterns with what makes you happy and the possible careers that match up to what you really enjoy. For example, if you enjoy taking pictures then explore career options in photography. If you enjoy writing, explore writing careers in editing or writing in digital publishing or advertising.

Once you determine what truly makes you happy and combine the experiences to see how they translate into career options, then you can go through the skills, qualifications and education you need to pursue to make career comparisons.

Good luck!

Joseph’s Answer

Jimmy, There are plenty of people who don't know what to do after high school, so don't worry, you're not alone. First off, think of things you like to do and wonder how you can take that and either turn it into a career or find careers related to it. I.E. if you like cars, maybe you become a mechanic, a salesman or go to school for business and get a job in the corporate office of a big automotive industry leader. Either way, you can always still go to college and take your core classes like math and science until you know what direction you want to go. These courses will generally be in whatever course you choose and just make sure it's a school that will transfer credits easily in case they don't specialize in the courses you choose to take as your career of choice moving forward. Good luck in whatever it is you choose moving forward!

Calvin’s Answer

Hi Jimmy,

Great question. As someone stated, you are not alone. Many high schoolers do not know what they want to do. Most important thing in my opining is to figure out what you are passionate about and pursue that. If you decide to go to college, just take some general courses the first year and that may help you identify what you enjoy.
