Will you get a better job attending an Ivy League school for Law Because of the school name itself verses attending a cheaper Law school?

Im asking because I'm going to get my bachelors degree as a paralegal so I wanted to know if getting in debt at an Ivy League school worth the sacrifice? Or if I go to a cheaper school would the same law firm want me? Or would the quality of my education be looked at the as the same value as an Ivy League student #lawschool #help #professional

Thank you comment icon I suggest applying to a cross section of schools. While it's true that a school's ranking often correlates with employment-placement rates, it's also true that some legal careers are less driven by status of the school you've attended (e.g., small, local law firms, government employment). It may be the case that you could obtain a full tuition scholarship to a less prestigious school and this would free you from the burden of re-paying loans for the next 10-20 years. Charles Roboski

WILL’s Answer

Yes, you will likely get a HIGHER PAYING job with a degree from an Ivy school. There's employers whose primary criteria for a candidate is to fill that position with an Ivy League graduate. That said, historical data is starting to show how the diploma from an Ivy school is less valuable [in terms of total income earned in a lifetime] in today's job market, than compared just 20/30 years ago. This suggests that the return of investment [ROI] of a student taking on debt for a college education, becomes less as the dollar amount increases for a 4 year program.

I would suggest you to do sufficient amount of research and weigh the benefits and costs. It is always great to attend a school with outstanding reputation, however, there are plenty of people from a less prestigious school are successful. I think if you are a diamond, you will shine anywhere!
