Contacting your local hospital to volunteer is a great way to get into the healthcare environment. You can contact the hospital directly and ask them how to sign up for this. In addition, many high schools have programs that allow students to formally job shadow in certain departments (Cardiology, Surgery, etc.) Ask your school counselor if your school offers this and if they don't, ask them if they could create this program. Good luck in your pursuit of experience in healthcare!
