What advice could i get for going into the construction industry?

Construction is a demanding profession but a very worthwhile profession if you are willing to work hard, willing to learn and apply yourself you can make a very good living for yourself and your family. You have to be prepared for long hours hard work and a willingness to get down and dirty. It is not for the faint at heart but for someone who does want to spend their time behind a desk, behind a counter or working indoors. There is a lot to be said for working outside every day even though you are in the heat, cold, rain, and sun but there is a freedom found in it.
To be successful you have to be comitted, on time, work hard and make the best out of each day, it does pay off. I have been in the construction industry for ovre 40 years and would not do anything else.

If you like working with your hands instead of a desk job, being inside and out, working in different places and getting good pay, then construction is for you. There are many different types of construction jobs, some more physical like cement work, framing, drywall, etc. Some are more specific like plumbing and electrical which takes a few years as a journeymen and then take a test for a license. Some are more paperwork like construction management or estimating. I suggest you Google all forms and see if there are explanations or videos to help you out. College or a desk job is not for everyone and there definitely are thousands of openings in the labor market. Look at Mike Rowe's Foundation for a start. I hope this helps. Good luck
