Kudos to you for your enthusiasm towards studying abroad! I had a similar experience in Durban, South Africa, and the bonds I formed there remain strong even after more than ten years. It's a great idea to map out everything well ahead of time. I took out a loan a year prior to my departure, which gave me ample time to plan. I would also advise you to consider all the necessities such as airfare, textbooks, tuition fees, and some extra funds for unforeseen expenses.
Thank you comment icon Thank you Noel! I'm particularly interested in African countries. Is there a resource you'd recommend to research programs in that area of the world? I appreciate your guidance. Chelsea

Amit’s Answer

Hello Chelsea,

Numerous universities recognize professional experience as an equivalent to a bachelor's degree when considering applicants for their Master's programs. Here are some examples:

Capella University: This institution acknowledges work experience by offering certain credits in both their undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Western Governors University: This university is renowned for providing credits for professional experience in their courses.
Kaplan University: This is another institution that awards credits for work experience.
Walden University and Colorado Technical University: Both these universities also offer some form of credit for professional experience in their programs.

As a single mother seeking financial assistance for a program overseas, there are multiple scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial aid specifically designed to support her academic pursuits. These funds are made available by various sources including the government (both state and federal), charitable organizations, and other institutions. You might also want to explore scholarships specifically for single mothers in Canada.

However, please remember that these are merely initial suggestions. The precise requirements and benefits can differ based on the particular program and university. It's crucial to conduct detailed research and consider consulting with admissions counselors to gain a complete understanding of what each program involves. Wishing you all the best on your educational journey! 😊
