How do I prepare for ASVAB TESTING ?

I'm heading into the airforce and I'd like to be prepared.

John,

As a service member and recruiter, I appreciate your motivation, but I would keep in mind that the ASVAB is an aptitude test designed to help place you in a job role that would be best suited to your aptitude based on your current knowledge. Studying is not recommended because if you are just studying for a certain score, the job you would receive may not be suitable for your actual skill set.

However, if you are dead set on studying, brushing up in paragraph comprehension, word knowledge, arithmetic reasoning, and algebra would go a long way.

Thank you comment icon i agree with you eric, personally i bought a study book, but people can end up in an AFSC that they dont like because they dont have a natural aptitude for it. i've seen it. Jason Windish

what i did was bought an asvab study book, but i also agree with eric's response. the test is designed to evaluate your natural abilities and place you in a specialty that is best suited for you. i would say study what the test is about so you know what to expect but don't stress about it and dont drill practice tests to try to get the best scores as possible across the board. if your already doing good in H.S. then youll be fine and you dont really get no special reward for high asvab scores

There are several places on line you can go to review sub tests and answer sample questions. Look for the official asvab website. Also speak with your recruiter as they should have insight as to other places to go to help prepare.

I bought and ASVAB study book and went over it every saturday. Pay attention in math class. Learn about how a car engine works (Depending on what you want your job to be. But either way you'll get a better score the more you know)

There's a good possibility that your recruiter might be able to provide you with an easier, widely accepted test that can replace the ASVAB test, known as the picat. The answers on the pre-test are identical to those on the actual test, so that's a win-win situation for you! I took the picat test a few months ago, and not much has changed since then. I urge you to demonstrate to your recruiter your commitment to pursuing your goals. Let them know that you're willing to help expand their recruitment pool by providing them with your friends' contact information for additional benefits in your future journey. Recruiters always appreciate having more contact numbers.
