What are methods to use for writing longer essays?

I'm asking because writing is my weak point. I can tell you exactly what I mean but when it comes to writing I like to keep it short and simple. #college

Hi De'Andre T. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

What an interesting and awesome question! I make this comment because as a student, I remember being told that my writing needed to be "richer" and that , at times, I needed to add more to what I was trying to say. My experience in the working world has been the exact opposite :). In my job, I often am told that I need to shorten my points so that they are easier for the readers to retain. So you can imagine my confusion when I first graduated from college :)...

As the previous response indicates, it is incredibly important for you to know your audience when you are writing and when you need to deliver that writing for some sort of grade or result. My general experience has been when it calls for longer essays, you actually have a better opportunity to showcase your writing style and to pull out interesting points that the reader of your essay likely will want to know about. If you think about book authors, they write with the expectation that their 50-100 pages will be of interest to the person that is reading. Consider that a good thing and take the time to read, write, edit, re-write all while exploring better ways to make your writing a fuller version of you and your style.

Best of luck to you!

When writing anything know your audience. Sometimes short and sweet is the way to go. The way I have learned to writing a longer report/paper etc is to write it and then walk away from it for a few hours or a day and then go back to it. Read it outloud to yourself, 99% of the time you will add to it and it will be a better paper.
