Hello, Cecilia !

I am really glad that you've reached out for advice about this and it seems that fortunately you do have confidence and strong held interest to pursue Cosmetology ! That's great ! You should do what you love with your whole heart and spirit !

There is no logical reason for anyone to tell you the outcome of your schooling much less the essence of your career. That being said, the Aveda in Minneapolis costs $22,150.00 and $3,000.00 for books and I am assuming supplies, too. The cosmetology program takes a year and one month. I found conflicting information about the tuition, though, so make sure to call the school and get a definite answer - it may be less than what I've mentioned. Then ask us more questions and provide details as we are always happy to help out.

I have left some information links below where you can read about scholarships to help you with the tuition. The next step in your grant and scholarship search would be to go to every Beauty brand you can think of and read their websites for possible grants or scholarships for cosmetology students. Places such as Clairol, Revlon, Pantene, TRESemme, Dove, etc. And did you know that seven major companies own 182 of the beauty brands, so you should seek possible scholarships or grants from: L'Oreal, Johnson and Johnson, Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Unilever, Proctor and Gamble and Coty. Those corporations may have opportunities to help you with the funding of your cosmetology program. Visit their websites and seek out information for scholarships.

I think it's better to concentrate on a plan to fund your schooling rather than worry or panic about it. You can do it. It may take a lot of reading and applying but it will be well worth it. Don't give up. Even before you are ready to apply, visit the school and ask specific, detailed questions, especially what their current tuition is. That information does not seem very clear on websites. If you decide not to go to Aveda there are other schools that you can enroll in, so nothing will be lost. Do some planning now and you will thank yourself later ! Go for it !

Best wishes !

Anna’s Answer

Hello Cecilia,

Embarking on a journey in cosmetology school is an exciting venture, but it may not immediately lead to a high income. I've seen many individuals passionate about cosmetology, and they've chosen to first pursue a business degree. This strategy allows them to gain the skills necessary to manage, operate, or even own a beauty salon. By combining business acumen with your cosmetology skills, you can maximize your earning potential. A business degree not only enhances your resume but also equips you with the knowledge to navigate the business world effectively. Cosmetology school is indeed fascinating, but to truly make it lucrative, I'd recommend starting with a general business degree. I have no doubt that you will shine brightly throughout your educational journey and your career.

Wishing you nothing but success,
